We are currently welcoming Dr Alexandra Polyakova, a surgeon at the O.O. Shalimov National Centre of Surgery and Transplantology in Kyiv, affiliated with the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. For two weeks, she is training alongside us in transoral thyroid surgery (TOETVA/TOEPVA), at the Franco-British Hospital.
Right from the first day, the programme was packed: two total thyroidectomies performed for Graves’ disease, both of which went perfectly. A direct immersion in the technique that immediately convinced our guest.
These international exchanges are at the heart of what makes our profession exciting. Teaching, learning from one another, advancing minimally invasive surgery that changes our patients’ everyday lives: that is the whole point of this collaboration with our Ukrainian colleagues.
